February Half Term is looming … here’s your Half Term Survival Kit featuring events, attractions and activities for the kids (and the rest of the family) in and around Whitby! 
 
1. If there’s a wobble in the weather, Whitby Pavilion is perfect for indoor entertainment! ‘A Monster Calls’ (12a), the film version of the award-winning children’s novel, is showing on Friday 10th and Sunday 12th February at 7.30pm, then Saturday 11th at 2.30pm. 
 
2. The brand new animated movie ‘Sing’ (PG) is showing on Friday 17th and 23rd February at 6pm, then daily from 18th to 22nd February inclusive at 2.30pm. 
 
3. Fancy some live entertainment? Magic Mike’s Pirate Party offers some swashbuckling fun for the whole family Friday 24th February at 2pm. Click Whitby Pavilion for details about all these events.

4. If your little monsters are behaving like … little monsters, then take them to Mini Monsterz This attraction is based at Esk Leisure, The Carrs in nearby Ruswarp. 
 
5. If the sun shines, then why not board a steam locomotive at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway? Arrival and departures from Saturday 18th February, book tickets online via their website. This heritage railway now has a station in the heart of Whitby, so it’s even easier to pretend you’ve found Platform 9¾! 
 
6. Whitby Abbey is open from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th February 11am to 4pm. Wrap up warm and enjoy exploring these spooky Gothic ruins which inspired Bram Stoker, author of ‘Dracula’  
 
7. The Dark Skies Festival takes place at the North York Moors National Park, Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th February – see the star-studded night sky during this stellar event. The event includes a Moon Explorer Weekend and a Space Treasure Hunt – it will be out of this world!
