FATHER'S DAY AT THE RIVIERA GUESTHOUSE
So, Father’s Day is approaching (Sunday 18th June, by the way)!
How can you thank the father figure in your family?
Of course, you could book a couple of nights away here at the Riviera Guest House, and we can cook him one of our brilliant breakfasts!
We always think Father’s Day is a bit of a missed opportunity … Mother’s Day seems to get more attention, and we’re not sure why.
Just think of all the things dads tend to do: he might be your personal chauffeur; your DIY expert; he might be your sole parent; or he might just be that shoulder to cry on when things get tough.
So let’s think of some ways you can show your appreciation. Buy him a pair socks (what, another pair?); maybe replace that tattered old sweater he’s reluctant to part with - if you can get your hands on it, that is!
We’ve come up with some better ways to show him how much you care …
Buy him a ticket to see legendary Manchester band the Charlatans – this iconic group are appearing at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough (about 21 miles south of us) on Friday 16th June. Find out more here.
If he’s a beer drinker, there are some fantastic local breweries that can help him enjoy a well-earned pint. The nearest to us is the aptly named Whitby Brewery, located on the town’s East Cliff. Find our more here.
Why not make dad a Father’s Day card, rather than buying one? With lots of independent shops of the crafty kind in Whitby and on the coast, you could create something really special that he’ll really love.
Most men would like to drive a steam locomotive (and women too, for that matter!). North Yorkshire Moors Railway offers some experience days perfect for the dad that would like to don that engine driver’s cap! Find out more here.
If your papa is a petrol head, then Pickering is the place to be on Sunday 18th June with the Yorkshire Modified Car Show. With hundreds of cars on show, dad will be chuffed to bits!
